Phil Doneski
Hey! I am Philip (Filip) Doneski, a T-shaped marketer and web designer specializing in conversion rate optimization.
In the past 13+ years, I’ve been creating websites in WordPress for over 300+ clients and collaborated with over 20 agencies as a contractor or partner with my web agency.
Background
I come from a marketing and design background, so coding is not my strong suit.
If you enjoy my content, you will notice that I love working with page builders for WordPress, and there is a reason why. I don’t enjoy coding.
As one of my clients used to say, I can’t code, I`m a ‘hack’. I’ve learned enough to understand code, alter it, and make it work.
When I approach clients, my main focus is to find a solution that will become an asset to their business.
Introducing, page builders.
I started with custom WP themes, then Genesis framework, then moved to Visual Composer … that turned out to be a pain to work with, but great tool to have back in the day.
I remember discovering Elementor in 2016 was mindblowing – and I still use it – subscribed for the pro version for 7+ years.
Journey
I started my journey in web design back in 2006 when creating websites with pure HTML, CSS, and JavaScript in Notepad+ was fun.
In 2009 I had my first local web design client. At the time, I was working in Joomla.
In 2011 I made the call to switch to WordPress as a web design platform to create websites for clients, and never looked back!
Learning more about page builders gave me the time and efficiency to work and develop my own business with marketing and finding web design clients.
I currently work with Bricks Builder and Elementor. But, I’ve most likely tried all page builders out there – Oxygen, Spectra, Beaver, Visual Composer, Cwicly, etc.
There is a bit of a love/hate relationship with Gutenberg for me, but the truth is, you have to know about it if you will use WordPress in 2024.
Today
A few years ago, I was asked to help train a group of creators as a substitute in one digital academy and educate them about WordPress and page builders. I was skeptical, but I took the challenge.
And it was an amazing experience! I’ve taught them the ropes of creating websites and finding clients for web design, and stuck with them till they really achieved success.
Mind you, if you asked me to teach prior to that, I’d say it is a good joke.
This experience proceeded with helping a few bigger groups after that and helped me explore a side of me sharing value with others.
That experience is the sole reason why this blog even exists and why you might see me posting content through other channels and on YouTube.
